Strength of a Man (Pt 1,2,3 & 4)

Starring:
Van Vicker, Oge Okoye and Mercy Johnson -
.
Storyline:
TBA
.
(STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM ANY WORK from the following crew - my last time watchin anymovie made by one one of them)
.
Producer:
Michael Jaja (BEWARE OF HIS WORK!!!!)

.
Producer:
Uche Nwankwo (BEWARE OF HIS WORK!!!!)
.
Director:
Ugezu J. Ugezu (BEWARE OF HIS WORK!!!!)
.
My Review:
Too long - too dragged out - script not that great.
.
Oge - just ok, the change of accent whenever she was speaking with Van - threw me off - I forwarded those scenes
.
Mercy in all honesty i havent been impressed once with your choice of script that you have chosen to act in in the whole of 2009. You still remain in my top 3 favourite actress but lately you are shaky - uma have to move you out of the top 3. Ask me why i get looking at her PRESS ON fake nails. I guess the camera man had it on there for too long  its not my fault sha
.
Yvonne Nelson - hmm - just ok
.
Van - uhhhhhhm, well what can i say - just as I expected - nothing is changed - same ole same ole. (Well lets look at it this way, at least God gave him greats looks - so when you put the tv on mute, its a pretty sight to watch i must say -other than that i leave the rest to your imagination.
.
On sunday afternoon after church and after having agreat lunch, you can lie in your couch, put this movie in and it will surely rock you to sleep like u need)
.
Overall I didnt enjoy it - And NO - I did not spend my precious money to by it - there was no way - i would have bought this. By now with my experience of being duped for years and wasting so much money for years buying CRAP, I can now detect CRAP from a mile.
.
One more thing - i have my eye set on the girl called Jane who plays Oge's maid - I think her real name is Rachel Okonkwo. I have seen her in a few movies (always playing someones younger sister) - she seems young - yet very promising. I am going to keep an eye on her from now on - I have great hope for her future in the industry.
.
My Ratings:
4/10 -
.
not worth your dime. If you have a violinist get them to play you the violin whilst you watch this movie. Complete waste of time.

Sisters in Love Pt 1,2,3,4

.

Starring:
Mercy Johnson, Mike Ezerounye and Rama Brew
.
Director:
Felix Ofosu-Yeboah (ghanaian)
.
Producer:
Emmanuel Obike (naijaman)
.
Writer:
TBA
.
Storyline:
One sister (Melissa) intention is to fall in love while the other (Mildred) is seeking revenge at her identical twin sister due to her lack of not finding love. Without her sister knowing, Mildred pursued a relationship with Kobby, while he was not aware that she was a twin to Melissa whom he was in love with. Will he find out who he is really dating?
.
My simplest one sentence summary to the storyline: Identical Twins Sisters in love with same man - go figure.
.
My Review:
The movie is good but not great - yet still watchable and somewhat interesting in some parts (esp. in Pt 3&4). Nice twist to the story line. I only wish they wouldnt let the music drown some of the scenes where it makes it hard to hear what was being said. Lawd knows i love me some Mercy but I just wish Mercy will not act in these ditsy airhead type roles (as she did esp in Pt 1&2). It doesnt suit her - she just doesnt seem realistic in those kinda roles. I just cant pinpoint it but i am not feeling it at all.
.
The movie was ok, but sometimes i got confused who is Melissa and who is Mildred. Slept half way thru the movie in Pt 1 & 2 and then continued when i woke up especially Pt 3&4 (Mike gave a "very good" performance - i must say).
.
Roaring Mike (Mike Ezerounye) didnt shout much - so u know thats a plus for me. I think dude toned down a notch on his shouting. He musta sort therapy and it worked for him, now I hope he passed on that business card to Tontoh Dikeh (let me not start on this girl and her acting lately - I liked her but lately her acting is so predictable and her "over-acting" to some characters she plays is to another level - she has become extremely predictable and almost borderline boring lately, but i will leave that comment for later cos she is not in this movie, i was just making reference). Mike Looks hella sexy when he tones down, like so scrumscious.
.
For one thing there were a few background songs in it by our ghana famous Kojo Antwi and i was quite surprised. I was like is that Kojo Antwi song i hear in the background. It was in Pt 3&4 that i actually realise the movie was shot in Ghana with a mostly ghanaian production team - a ghana / naija collab.
.
ps: My only advice for Mercy (as i notice in Pt 3&4) is if you are going to take off all your false nails, make sure you take them all off and not leave the one on your thumb on - it was irritating to watch. - Get ya mop ready to wipe Mercys tears off ya floor cos she does a whole river of it. Yall know Mercy dont play with her "effortless cry cry"
.
My Overall Rating:
6/10
There was no need to put the movie in 4 damn parts. Nollywood we beg u try and fit movies in just one part like "Keeping Faith" or "Letters to a Stranger"

Be Not Afraid (A Tchidi Chikere Movie)

(Apparently this movie is based on a true story)

Starring: Rita Dominic, Tchidi Chikere and Pat Attah
.
Storyline: Can a rational Woman marry a man who kidnapped here baby..? Will the answer be justifiable from either perspective? Go BUY your copy and watch this movie.
.
Producer: Tchidi Chikere
.
Director: Tchidi Chikere
.
Writer: Tchidi Chikere
.
Review:
I laughed through out the movie - not because its funny but just Tchidi's mannerisms when he acts - its almost like a joke.
.
Lawd knows l loveme some Tchidi, but he kinda reminds me of Spike Lee, cant act but still wants to star in his own movies - and to top it all off lately - he sings - I guess its a recession and he is cutting cost and doing everything - write, produce, direct, act and on top of it all sometimes in some movies, he'll contribute to background music with his own singing (like he did in his own produced movie "Native Son" starring Ini and Tontoh). Chei .... Tchidi - u will not kill me today ooohh.
.
If you frequent this site you all know how i rave bout Tchidi and movies he produces. I still love Tchidi, he will forever remain one of my most well respected and best directors - especially when it comes to village theme movies no one beats him. He celebrates his igbo tradition and culture in his village movies like nobodys bizness, and as an outsider i have learnt a lot from his movies about igbo culture.
.
This year, he didnt do too much village movie apart from the likes of Native Son (9/10) and Soul of a Maiden (8/10) (go grab ya copy if you havent watched this AWARD WINNING titles)- I want the old Tchidi back - the Tchidi of "Blood Sisters", "All My Life", "Stronger than Pain" etc - see here for more http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2118672/
.
I miss the old Tchidi. The one behind the camera directing and producing and writing excellent scripts that gets you glued to your tv from beginning to end. As for the acting - hmm- what can i say sha.- and then he is singing too (chei,). None the less, the red dot on screen seized so we shall take it like that (if you dont know what am talking about on red dot, then dont worry about it)
.
Rita Dominic was phenomenal in her acting with this movie. Excellent. Which is no surprise cos she always delivers (one of the most memorable movies i have seen her in from past is "All my Life" (starring opposite Omotola Jalade and Zach Orji.) - This comes as know surprise bcos as you all know RIta is in my top 3 most respected and favourite nollywood actress. She knows how to deliver a role - like Genevieve - she is beautiful, eloquent and able to articulate her role so flawlessly. She makes the character so believable you forget you are watching a movie - and this my friend - is what we the audience ask for in Nollywood movies. We dont ask for much.
.
Rita like Genevieve Nnaji doesnt cry much in many of her roles (like Mercy Johnson or Nkiru Sylvanus would in every damn role they are in - if only they could lend Van some of those tears for one movie ), But when they acts in a character where they have to cry, you best believe - you are going to feel it so much you forget its just a movie and possibly cry with/for her. She is that good - she is Excellent - and i absolutely love her acting. She did excellent in this movie. Another Tchidi produced movie where she cried so convincingly after the death of her mother, was "Sleek Ladies" starring opposite Ini Edo and Yul Edochie. Her crying was so sad and convincing (you could really feel her pain) - i forgot i was watching a movie and cried along with her.
.
Pat Attah
- hmmmm - what can I say - he was gone for a while (I hadnt seen him in over 2yrs) and we sure DID NOT miss him - cos he is not a memorable actor to me, Very handsome to watch, but watching him act is like watching Van Vicker act - LIKE WATCHING A "BEAUTIFUL" PAINT DRY - "boring" is an understatement - practically put you to sleep. Some scenes with him i just put my remote on MUTE and just watch how fine he looks. I dont "need" to hear him speak or try to intepret his role (i save myself the headache), cos it messes up my imagination. His overall acting in this movie 4/10.
.
My Ratings:
6/10
.
ps: who is this guy who plays the pastor - oh my gosh. another one i usually put on MUTE or forward scenes with him in it. I think his name is Ifeanyi Okughalite. Definite no no for me.

I am too busy to comment on this right now, cos in am in the middle of writing a long lettter to the editor of TIME MAGAZINE.

They not only Insulted Nollywood but insulted the audience and those of us that watch nollywood movies.

WARNING: THESE PHOTOS ARE DISGUSTING, SO BE WARNED - NSFW!!!!!

The Figurine (Araromire) - Trailer

Check this upcoming movie produce by YMG actor (turned producer) Kunle Afoloyan.
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpxH15DTejo&feature=player_embedded
.
here is the website
http://figurinemovie.com/figurine.html
.
i am looking forward to this movie cos of only 2 people. Ramsey Nouah and Funlola Aofeyibi – I first saw Funlola in “Keeping Faith” which i watched many years ago starring opposite Genevieve Nnaji, Bimbo Akintola , RMD and Joke Silva, and thought she acted excellent in that role – she played a real convincing bitch having an affair with a married “chief” (as in politician with lots of money), i havent seen her since and always wondered why.
.
From the websites its saids it being premiered in Port Harcort, Abuja, Ghana and London . Check websites for dates and dont miss it. If u live in any of these cities I wouldnt miss it if i were you. Lets support our filmakers who are doing good jobs and better than the ever populated nonsense producers and directors wasting time and space - an industry where every village illiterate champion with no experience in the industry but has a lot of money think they have the earned right to get behind camera to direct and produce a movie - and deceive audience who also spend their hard earned cash to purchase such rubbish.
.
Kunle is an excellent veteran in the Yoruba Movie industry and with his first movie of "Irapada" which was good - i have a feeling this will be great too. Watching the trailer alone with such excelllent casting, excellent sound quality, picture quality and beautiful african sound tells me this movie will be good. And with me yall know i hype anything good for free. I am just a sucker for true african movies like this, not the western emulated kind where actors fake their accents like they are trying to prove something.
.
I will review the movie fully after i have watched it whenever it hits the US - Hopefully when I am home permanently next year as i plan (By Gods Grace) i can be able to attend these premieres too - There is no place like home.
.
PS: by the way did i tell yall i am not just an addict of nollywood english movies but yoruba movies too. Yep - i did not understand the language when I first started watching two years ago, but with the help of subtitles and with so much english intertwine when they speak , i was able to figure it out. My favourite actors and actresses are Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Kunle Afoloyan etc. I can rattle the quotes of the infamous movie "Jenifa" word to word  Yels cos i am a gbogbo big girz and i gats to be bigs
.
Singing 9ice photocopy "i told ya u can NEFA be like me - na i see no be for free no bagidi ......" (baba t looking at me like am some type of crack head :lol)

GUILTY PLEASURES (Excellent Cast+Emem Isong Produced)

Starring:
-Majid Michel as Bobby
-Ramsey Nouah as Teso,
-Nse Ikpe Etim as Liz
-Mercy Johnson as Boma
.
Produced By: Emem Isong and co produced by Desmond Elliot
.
Directed by: Daniel Ademinokan & Desmond Elliot (kudos to Dessy for his 1st directorial debut)
.
Written By: Uyai Ikpe Etim, Nse Ikpe Etim and Bola Aduwo
.
Theme: Drama, Sex, Love, Romance, Infidelity
.
Storyline: xx will post later xx
.
My Review: What can i say, - love it love it love it - Had it for two days and watched it twice already.
.
Majid Michel "Apa cher ji Bo" (in our ghana ga language it means "u r a wild boy ) - I love me some Majid, gosh, he is too much. His acting in this movie was in no doubt excellent as always and from here on i suggest he works with the likes of Emem, a bit more than the other mediocre producer/directors. Emem sure brings the best in him. I cant even describe it like how convincing he was in this movie - you just gotta watch it to know what i mean. When he told Nse "you are too short and fat to be a model" i was like "What a jack-ass". Majid you know this your great acting, is doing nothing but spoiling market for somebody right. Now you are making ppl differentiate between good vs mediocre acting. My new nickname for you be "Apa cher" - keep up the good work and from here on continue but choose great producers like Emem, Tchidi and the likes. Dont be lured by money to spoil your cv.
.
People are talking bout him speaking Pidgin in a scene with his brother (Ramseys character) - that shouldnt be a surprise, In ghana a lot of young guys like Majid speak pidgin. I have 5 brothers they all speak pidgin. Ghanaian pidgin is a tad bit different from Naija's but it is almost the same. Mostly spoken by youth in Ghana who attended high school or secondary school in the city (Accra) or Capecoast and primary schooled in the city speak pidgin fluently - at one point the government wanted to discourage it cos they said it was becoming too rampant amongst the youth and spoiling their real articulation of proper english. Its mostly spoken by the boys/guys. Its very very common aside from our normal english language.
.
Ramsey Nouah was fabulous - and played a very convincing role - a real Jackass husband who is overly controlling of his wife - he decided everything his wife had to do except breathing - i dont blame Nse's character for cheating on his chauvinist ass. I am predicting Ramsey is receiving THE 2009 AMAA BEST ACTOR for this role, and Majid for Best Supporting Actor.
.
For a moment since his comeback after the useless ban was lifted 2 yrs ago, I forgot how SEXY Ramsey was (I think its bold enough for me to say this has to be his best since his comeback 2yrs ago when the ban was lifted). He looks even more sexier in this movie. All the newbies to nollywood movie watching (Carribeans, African Americans etc) are asking bout him, like he just entered the movie industry. I'm like Yall just dont know.
.
You talking bout "cutest in the game", now Ramsey is the original VETERAN of Fineness, and he gets better with age. Dont get it twisted, cos no one ever took his spot and no one can. He can take a hiatus for 10yrs come back and he will still be "OUR" RAMSEY NOUAH. (ps: to all the newbies trying to locate Ramsey on Facebook or myspace, quit it while you are ahead. As it stands "now" Any Ramsey on facebook is a fake - and there is loads of em. This married man with kids (and by the way his wife is gorgeous so all yall birds stand back), has no interest whatsoever to join facebook - he gets tired brushing the birds off his shoulders - its safer for him this way i think - same with Majid - no facebook account - everyone out there is FAKE as a $3 bill)
.
I love Ramsey - and he has such a great chemistry with Nse - best yet since Genevieve. The last scene of the movie was my favourite when he beat up his brother (Majids character) who had slept with his wife Nse's character - that was so convincing, but most of all the last scene with his wife. Gotta love the last part. I swear i love this movie. This movie has to win loads of awards in 2010. In the past 2 yrs I havent raved about a movie this much since Genevieve Nnaji's "Letters To a Stranger" in 2007 opposite Yemi Blaq.
.
Mercy's acting was "good" - not necessarily great. There is this particular type of acting that Mercy does that sometimes irritates me - and some of that was in this movie - when she acts like a spoilt bratt - it just doesnt suit her. Personally i prefer her in village set movies. But the one thing i do admire about Mercy after watching this movie is that, she takes her job a seriously - (kinda like Majid) - when she is asked to play a role- she holds no stone unturned and acts all out to the best she know how - especially when its a sex scene "forget it" - i dont think she is even directed in such parts - she just directs her self cos she is that good and CONVIINCING. Dude whom she was having an affair with was ok too.
.
The parts with Omoni were a bit overly acted, and annoying with all that giggling laughing nonsense when they first became friends when they met at the Salon (the giggles and acting were a bit overly acted and i was just rolling my eyes and even had to forward the scene the second time I watched the movie - it acting was unnatural and annoying). Omoni is not bad actress, yet neither great - to me she is just "OK" in my books. No memorable acting from her yet, I cant pinpoint what it is but honestly to me, her acting just doesnt "Waoh" me enough to say "ok i need to look out for her' - I am yet to be convinced. I do look forward to her upcoming movie produced by Kunle Afoloyan titled "Figurine" - and maybe that my convince me (she does have potential) - lets wait and see. I am only looking forward to that movie because of my favourites such as Ramsey Nouah and Funlola Aofiyebi (from Keeping Faith - 'excellent actress whom i miss watching)
.
Desmond was in for less than 10 mins of the movie, he was just ok. Shebi he is a director now so i suppose he was behind the camera most of the time. I am so proud of Desmond for producing and directing now and i give him kudos for this fabulous movie. We look forward to more work from him as well as more collaboration with the likes of Emem Isong.
.
SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST - Nse Nse Nse - In this movie She played a bored housewife (married to Ramseys Character) - i dont like giving too much away on movies - so go BUY it and watch for yourself. Lets just say Nollywood have found a new diamond in the rough. Gosh - where has she been all these years - WE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE NSE- She is what we call "A Real Actress" (and i so look forward to her next movie starring with the other BEST - Genevieve Nnaji, which i anticipate will come during Dec or early 2010). She is very convincing as an actress and acts so well you forget you watching a movie - the last person that did that for me, yall know was Genevieve (and the Rita or Mercy sometimes.). If you thought she did great in Reloaded, well you better watch this movie.
.
Nse from the conversations i have had with her, use to work in a bank and lured into returning (use to act in Nigerian TV drama INHERITANCE which also starred Ramsey Nouah) to acting my her friend Emem Isong for the movie Reloaded - and i think Emem did a good thing - Emem has great eye for talent and thats why i love her so. Nse is in the industry now and we are keeping her - she is not going anywhere anytime soon (save us from the too many mediocre actresses who cant even articulate the english language without faking accent, let alone act) - We love her too much.
.
My favourite scene of her was everyscene but most of all the last past with Ramsey - her crying was so convincing it brought me to tears.
.
Overall this is the BEST MOVIE I SEEN IN 2009 - matter of fact better to me than RELOADED (eventhough the script was just a tad bit similar). The script was just ok (7/10) -i wouldnt say this is been the best script movie- however with such an excellent casting by Emem, plus good production and direction it made the movie GREAT- kinda like "Keeping Faith".
.
Why Emem casted Rukky Sanda - i dont know? (shakes my head). I said it once and i will say it again, i really wish this girl will not act in any movie at all whatsoever - her acting is NEVER on point - watching her speak let alone act is like watching paint dry. Pretty girl? yes she is, but am sorry acting is not for her - i hear she writes movie script - i suggest she maybe stick with that but please leave acting alone. While she leaves i suggest she takes dude who played Nse's ex-boyfriend (i think in the movie the called him Oreo or something like that) - dude was cute and handsome - no doubt, but am sorry we dont care for pretty and handsome faces only - we want real convincing acting. I am not being personal - i dont know you, just giving an honest critique, and telling it like it is, just sit down and watch your own movies and critique yourself.
.
My Ratings:
9.0/10
.
Run (dont even walk) to go BUY this movie, this is a definite sure keeper for your movie library - i mean which Emem Isong movie has not been - has Emem ever failed you yet. This is not even a movie you watch once, kinda like Keeping Faith, you watch over and over and over again. They lost 0.5 cos of one or two bad actors in the movie but when you watch it - u can figure that out. Also Pt 1 was a tad bit slow - but either way i kept up.
.
In conclusion - thank you Emem - you had us wait so damn long but it was all worth the wait before the final release of this movie. Thank you for saving us from all the damn rubbish movies we got bombarded with all summer. You are the only one who usually save us. Thank you, I will always support your good work
.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Men dont ignore us women, give us the attention we need, dont treat us like trophies and there will be no trouble  (dont mind me am only being silly)
.
CONGRATULATIONS TO NSE, RAMSEY, MAJID, MERCY, DESMOND and EMEM. If i did not review any other actor/tress in this movie then clearly their acting was not memorable enough to remember.
.
I read on another blog where someone critiqued and said Emems Movie always do well just cos of her FAMOUS & POPULAR casting - well i disagree. I can name many movies i have seen where the cast were famous and popular and very great actors/tresses (matter of fact i have mentioned a few on this blog) yet the PRODUCTION AND DIRECTION SUCKED - cos clearly they didnt know what they were doing (in such instances i dont even blame the actors).
.
Emem always succeed with her movies based on many factors - and NOT because she uses famous actors - thats the most ridiculous thing i ever heard. FAMOUS dont necessarily sell movies anymore - audience are being well aware of acting that sucks vs one thats great, they are not being fooled anymore by just famous names or cute faces. If you dont know ask ........?????????.(:lol ok let me keep my mouth shut - i dont wanna start anything)
.
Emem you know what?????, in 2010 we will prove these naysayers wrong, Do one movie with new acts, like i discussed with you before, i will give you my time and help you cast - i yearnnnnnnn to do casting for Nollywood one day - for free, i dont want a dime. It will be a jooooyyyyyyyyy to assist you in casting - its a lifelong dream of mine to cast actors/tresses for nollywood, cos nothing gets under my skin more than seeing wrong casting to a potentially good movie. Let me assist you in choosing great talent with not just pretty faces, but articulate, eloquent (fake accenters will be banned :lol) and can bring character to live - and whose acting are so believable it will make the audience forget they are watching a movie. Once you got that everything else falls in place. Just put them on a spot and let them screen test, kinda like this here - Sanaa (my favourite black HOLLYWOOD actress) test for "Love and Basketball or "Out of Time".
.

.
OR

.
You know Emem after watching this movie for the third time in two days (:lol hey its been a slow year with not much great movies like this, what can i say) i am sitting here thinking - i know you like to keep your movies short and simple unlike the many others prodcuers who are not scared to bombard audience with 3,4 or 5 parts to maximize on profits. I was thinkning - it probably wouldnt hurt if you came out with a Part 3 or a sequel of this movie (but i guess just like the highly anticipated "Behind Close Doors - Part 3 which never came (am still waiting ohhh), I think I may have to wait for long time. Seriously Emem think about it, I could already think of at least 3 scripts to twist this movie into a part 3 - I personally want to know what happened to Teso, Liz of ofcourse Bobby. Dont make me start a campaign oohh cos you know many ppl will petition and vote for this suggestion. We cant get enough of your work and most definately cant get enough of this dynamite casting.
