My Review: What can i say, - love it love it love it - Had it for two days and watched it twice already.
.
Majid Michel "Apa cher ji Bo" (in our ghana ga language it means "u r a wild boy ) - I love me some Majid, gosh, he is too much. His acting in this movie was in no doubt excellent as always and from here on i suggest he works with the likes of Emem, a bit more than the other mediocre producer/directors. Emem sure brings the best in him. I cant even describe it like how convincing he was in this movie - you just gotta watch it to know what i mean. When he told Nse "you are too short and fat to be a model" i was like "What a jack-ass". Majid you know this your great acting, is doing nothing but spoiling market for somebody right. Now you are making ppl differentiate between good vs mediocre acting. My new nickname for you be "Apa cher" - keep up the good work and from here on continue but choose great producers like Emem, Tchidi and the likes. Dont be lured by money to spoil your cv.
.
People are talking bout him speaking Pidgin in a scene with his brother (Ramseys character) - that shouldnt be a surprise, In ghana a lot of young guys like Majid speak pidgin. I have 5 brothers they all speak pidgin. Ghanaian pidgin is a tad bit different from Naija's but it is almost the same. Mostly spoken by youth in Ghana who attended high school or secondary school in the city (Accra) or Capecoast and primary schooled in the city speak pidgin fluently - at one point the government wanted to discourage it cos they said it was becoming too rampant amongst the youth and spoiling their real articulation of proper english. Its mostly spoken by the boys/guys. Its very very common aside from our normal english language.
.
Ramsey Nouah was fabulous - and played a very convincing role - a real Jackass husband who is overly controlling of his wife - he decided everything his wife had to do except breathing - i dont blame Nse's character for cheating on his chauvinist ass. I am predicting Ramsey is receiving THE 2009 AMAA BEST ACTOR for this role, and Majid for Best Supporting Actor.
.
For a moment since his comeback after the useless ban was lifted 2 yrs ago, I forgot how SEXY Ramsey was (I think its bold enough for me to say this has to be his best since his comeback 2yrs ago when the ban was lifted). He looks even more sexier in this movie. All the newbies to nollywood movie watching (Carribeans, African Americans etc) are asking bout him, like he just entered the movie industry. I'm like Yall just dont know.
.
You talking bout "cutest in the game", now Ramsey is the original VETERAN of Fineness, and he gets better with age. Dont get it twisted, cos no one ever took his spot and no one can. He can take a hiatus for 10yrs come back and he will still be "OUR" RAMSEY NOUAH. (ps: to all the newbies trying to locate Ramsey on Facebook or myspace, quit it while you are ahead. As it stands "now" Any Ramsey on facebook is a fake - and there is loads of em. This married man with kids (and by the way his wife is gorgeous so all yall birds stand back), has no interest whatsoever to join facebook - he gets tired brushing the birds off his shoulders - its safer for him this way i think - same with Majid - no facebook account - everyone out there is FAKE as a $3 bill)
.
I love Ramsey - and he has such a great chemistry with Nse - best yet since Genevieve. The last scene of the movie was my favourite when he beat up his brother (Majids character) who had slept with his wife Nse's character - that was so convincing, but most of all the last scene with his wife. Gotta love the last part. I swear i love this movie. This movie has to win loads of awards in 2010. In the past 2 yrs I havent raved about a movie this much since Genevieve Nnaji's "Letters To a Stranger" in 2007 opposite Yemi Blaq.
.
Mercy's acting was "good" - not necessarily great. There is this particular type of acting that Mercy does that sometimes irritates me - and some of that was in this movie - when she acts like a spoilt bratt - it just doesnt suit her. Personally i prefer her in village set movies. But the one thing i do admire about Mercy after watching this movie is that, she takes her job a seriously - (kinda like Majid) - when she is asked to play a role- she holds no stone unturned and acts all out to the best she know how - especially when its a sex scene "forget it" - i dont think she is even directed in such parts - she just directs her self cos she is that good and CONVIINCING. Dude whom she was having an affair with was ok too.
.
The parts with Omoni were a bit overly acted, and annoying with all that giggling laughing nonsense when they first became friends when they met at the Salon (the giggles and acting were a bit overly acted and i was just rolling my eyes and even had to forward the scene the second time I watched the movie - it acting was unnatural and annoying). Omoni is not bad actress, yet neither great - to me she is just "OK" in my books. No memorable acting from her yet, I cant pinpoint what it is but honestly to me, her acting just doesnt "Waoh" me enough to say "ok i need to look out for her' - I am yet to be convinced. I do look forward to her upcoming movie produced by Kunle Afoloyan titled "Figurine" - and maybe that my convince me (she does have potential) - lets wait and see. I am only looking forward to that movie because of my favourites such as Ramsey Nouah and Funlola Aofiyebi (from Keeping Faith - 'excellent actress whom i miss watching)
.
Desmond was in for less than 10 mins of the movie, he was just ok. Shebi he is a director now so i suppose he was behind the camera most of the time. I am so proud of Desmond for producing and directing now and i give him kudos for this fabulous movie. We look forward to more work from him as well as more collaboration with the likes of Emem Isong.
.
SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST - Nse Nse Nse - In this movie She played a bored housewife (married to Ramseys Character) - i dont like giving too much away on movies - so go BUY it and watch for yourself. Lets just say Nollywood have found a new diamond in the rough. Gosh - where has she been all these years - WE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE NSE- She is what we call "A Real Actress" (and i so look forward to her next movie starring with the other BEST - Genevieve Nnaji, which i anticipate will come during Dec or early 2010). She is very convincing as an actress and acts so well you forget you watching a movie - the last person that did that for me, yall know was Genevieve (and the Rita or Mercy sometimes.). If you thought she did great in Reloaded, well you better watch this movie.
.
Nse from the conversations i have had with her, use to work in a bank and lured into returning (use to act in Nigerian TV drama INHERITANCE which also starred Ramsey Nouah) to acting my her friend Emem Isong for the movie Reloaded - and i think Emem did a good thing - Emem has great eye for talent and thats why i love her so. Nse is in the industry now and we are keeping her - she is not going anywhere anytime soon (save us from the too many mediocre actresses who cant even articulate the english language without faking accent, let alone act) - We love her too much.
.
My favourite scene of her was everyscene but most of all the last past with Ramsey - her crying was so convincing it brought me to tears.
.
Overall this is the BEST MOVIE I SEEN IN 2009 - matter of fact better to me than RELOADED (eventhough the script was just a tad bit similar). The script was just ok (7/10) -i wouldnt say this is been the best script movie- however with such an excellent casting by Emem, plus good production and direction it made the movie GREAT- kinda like "Keeping Faith".
.
Why Emem casted Rukky Sanda - i dont know? (shakes my head). I said it once and i will say it again, i really wish this girl will not act in any movie at all whatsoever - her acting is NEVER on point - watching her speak let alone act is like watching paint dry. Pretty girl? yes she is, but am sorry acting is not for her - i hear she writes movie script - i suggest she maybe stick with that but please leave acting alone. While she leaves i suggest she takes dude who played Nse's ex-boyfriend (i think in the movie the called him Oreo or something like that) - dude was cute and handsome - no doubt, but am sorry we dont care for pretty and handsome faces only - we want real convincing acting. I am not being personal - i dont know you, just giving an honest critique, and telling it like it is, just sit down and watch your own movies and critique yourself.
.
My Ratings:
9.0/10
.
Run (dont even walk) to go BUY this movie, this is a definite sure keeper for your movie library - i mean which Emem Isong movie has not been - has Emem ever failed you yet. This is not even a movie you watch once, kinda like Keeping Faith, you watch over and over and over again. They lost 0.5 cos of one or two bad actors in the movie but when you watch it - u can figure that out. Also Pt 1 was a tad bit slow - but either way i kept up.
.
In conclusion - thank you Emem - you had us wait so damn long but it was all worth the wait before the final release of this movie. Thank you for saving us from all the damn rubbish movies we got bombarded with all summer. You are the only one who usually save us. Thank you, I will always support your good work
.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Men dont ignore us women, give us the attention we need, dont treat us like trophies and there will be no trouble  (dont mind me am only being silly)
.
CONGRATULATIONS TO NSE, RAMSEY, MAJID, MERCY, DESMOND and EMEM. If i did not review any other actor/tress in this movie then clearly their acting was not memorable enough to remember.
.
I read on another blog where someone critiqued and said Emems Movie always do well just cos of her FAMOUS & POPULAR casting - well i disagree. I can name many movies i have seen where the cast were famous and popular and very great actors/tresses (matter of fact i have mentioned a few on this blog) yet the PRODUCTION AND DIRECTION SUCKED - cos clearly they didnt know what they were doing (in such instances i dont even blame the actors).
.
Emem always succeed with her movies based on many factors - and NOT because she uses famous actors - thats the most ridiculous thing i ever heard. FAMOUS dont necessarily sell movies anymore - audience are being well aware of acting that sucks vs one thats great, they are not being fooled anymore by just famous names or cute faces. If you dont know ask ........?????????.(:lol ok let me keep my mouth shut - i dont wanna start anything)
.
Emem you know what?????, in 2010 we will prove these naysayers wrong, Do one movie with new acts, like i discussed with you before, i will give you my time and help you cast - i yearnnnnnnn to do casting for Nollywood one day - for free, i dont want a dime. It will be a jooooyyyyyyyyy to assist you in casting - its a lifelong dream of mine to cast actors/tresses for nollywood, cos nothing gets under my skin more than seeing wrong casting to a potentially good movie. Let me assist you in choosing great talent with not just pretty faces, but articulate, eloquent (fake accenters will be banned :lol) and can bring character to live - and whose acting are so believable it will make the audience forget they are watching a movie. Once you got that everything else falls in place. Just put them on a spot and let them screen test, kinda like this here - Sanaa (my favourite black HOLLYWOOD actress) test for "Love and Basketball or "Out of Time".

You know Emem after watching this movie for the third time in two days (:lol hey its been a slow year with not much great movies like this, what can i say) i am sitting here thinking - i know you like to keep your movies short and simple unlike the many others prodcuers who are not scared to bombard audience with 3,4 or 5 parts to maximize on profits. I was thinkning - it probably wouldnt hurt if you came out with a Part 3 or a sequel of this movie (but i guess just like the highly anticipated "Behind Close Doors - Part 3 which never came (am still waiting ohhh), I think I may have to wait for long time. Seriously Emem think about it, I could already think of at least 3 scripts to twist this movie into a part 3 - I personally want to know what happened to Teso, Liz of ofcourse Bobby. Dont make me start a campaign oohh cos you know many ppl will petition and vote for this suggestion. We cant get enough of your work and most definately cant get enough of this dynamite casting.

i loveee me ur review!!! Needless to say i wud be visitng you more often! "Distance Between" was by Yemi Blaq, Kalu Ikeagwu, and Rita Dominic, alongside Mercy Johnson. However, "Letters to a Stranger" is by Yemi Blaq and Genevieve!

Ok I watched it... I liked it but I don't share your level of entusiasm. I guess after reading your review I was expecting too much. I didnt think it was as good as Reloaded... Loved majid and the fire in his eyes plus the others, and the prooduction and effects was slick but in terms of the story, the story with Omoni felt underdeveloped and a bit pointless.

Hi nolly
i guess different strokes for different folks. Part 1 was a tad slow but Part 2 made up all for it and I LOVED IT

So who thinks there should be a continuation to this movie. Do you think the movie ended well or you would rather there be some sort of continuation.

If you were a script writer how would you twist the story line in the sequel to this movie?

By the way there is no confirmation from Emem and her team of there ever been a continuation - but am just thinking out loud - cos i personally wish there was a sequel.

I actually preferred Reloaded to this movie. Nse was a bit inconsistent but I still think she's the STAR to watch. Majid is also one to watch, has such effortless screen presence. Loved Ramsey in the last scenes- he's getting sexier with age!!!
The movie had some scenes/storyline that out to have been edited out...Mercy/Omoni story for one. The opening scene at the party had some corny 'I want totap that ass' lines, I had to fast fwd so fast! Re edited the movie into just one and a half 1-part movie and the outcome is much better!

yes u are right, seems like most whohave watched it will agree Mercy and Omonis scenes were not necessary (I fast forwarded those too) whilst watchin the movie for the 2nd or 3rd time. And you are right about the corny lines at Nse and Ramseys houseparty, dude talking bout "Id like to tap that ass" so corny - i was enough already with this constant yankeefied emulation and all that nonsense.

I just wish some actors will be themselves when they act and NEVER emulate yankee or british or whatever the hell they try to be. Its so corny, but apparently ppl who are home and never travelled out LOVE IT, they love all the corny and cheesy lines.
